To the Members of Ann Arbor Golf and Outing

Well, 2008 is here and we are preparing for a great year at Golf and Outing. The Board of Directors has a good mixture of golf and tennis activities as well as special events planned. Brian Stange, Golf Pro, Operations Manager, and Restaurant Manager will again handle business on a daily basis.

The Dining Room will open in May with some new additions to the menu that I think you will enjoy. We are pleased that our restaurant team of Jackie Walters and Jason Yonkin are returning to bring all of us those special meals and service. They did a wonderful job in 2007 with weekly dining and those great “special events.” Patti Hagopian is our Dining Room board liaison.

Russ Auger and his crew are back to keep our golf course in the great shape to which we have become accustomed. A new cutting mower has been purchased for our grounds group. John Douglass is the new Grounds liaison.

Jeff Carter and Julie Conlin lead our Men’s and Women’s Golf Activities. Carl Williams is again in charge of Tennis. Check out the pages talking about these events and the exciting calendar they have planned.

Our dining room survey indicated that members wanted new chairs and tables and they will be here when the dining room opens! We also got the fireplace to work once again and the ladies locker room is being upgraded. Dave Swartz is in charge of “House” details. Returning Board member Larry Eiler is in charge of “ Parking” and Doug Brinkman continues as the Finance “person.”

We have concerns about the proposed East Stadium Boulevard improvements and South Main Street non-motorized improvements. We have a Sidewalk Subcommittee that has been meeting with the city planning group and consultants for the past year to explore the issues and talk about alternatives. We want a plan that will upgrade our course and provide a solution with which we can live now and in the future.
