Dear Golf & Outing Members,
2009 has begun, and while the weather has been
miserable, it won’t be long before we’re enjoying our Club again. Your
Board of Directors has been fully engaged in the budget process as well as
other matters of benefit to all.
You will again find a full calendar of events
scheduled this year with activities for all tastes. Please review the dates
for the events important to you, and if there are questions, please contact
Brian Stange, who returns as both the General Manager and Golf
Professional. Assisting Brian will be Tim Katanski, returning as Brian’s
chief staff member.
Russ Auger continues as our Grounds
Superintendent, and we expect that the golf course and grounds will again be
a source of great pride as usual. John Douglass, Vice President, is the
Director in charge of this area of the Club.
The Dining Room will open on April 28th,
and there have been some interesting improvements to the menu, primarily
based upon member comment and feedback. Jackie Walter has been promoted to
Restaurant and Dining Manager, so please congratulate her on a job well
done. Jason Yonkin returns as our Head Chef to lead the food preparation
effort. The staff will again deliver food and service second to none, and
our special event dining will continue to receive high grades. Tom Wilkins
is the Director in charge of the restaurant.
Dave Swartz is the Director in charge of the
clubhouse. He has plans for a number of improvements, to include new dining
room chairs. You will note that the staircase leading to the locker rooms
has been rebuilt for better safety and access.
The men’s golf program will be under the
direction of Jeff Carter, and Julie Conlin is the Director responsible for
the women’s golf program. Carl Williams remains in charge of the club’s
tennis program. Be sure to get event dates on your calendar, your
participation is very important to your Club.
Bob Chapman is the new Director in charge of
finance, and Cliff Sheldon is a new Director in charge of our special
events. Returning Director Larry Eiler is in charge of the parking again
for 2009.
We fully expect 2009 to be a quiet year with
regard to the many unknowns of City planning for Stadium Blvd. and South
Main Street. John Dahl will continue as our Director coordinating our
interest in this.
Your Board of Directors has been very engaged
and diligent in the planning for a great year. It currently consists of a
very talented and strong group of members committed to both the welfare of
Ann Arbor Golf and Outing Club and the enjoyment of its members in its
use. Comments and suggestions are welcomed, and we thank you for your
support. Let’s have a great year!
Jeffrey Carter, President 2009
