| What a great time we had! There were a total of 45 attendees (including 29 classmates) over the Columbus Day weekend. Our headquarters was the MGM Grand but we got out and about to most of the new hotels. Many of us also took a city bus trip downtown to the Fremont Street Experience. Saturday night was our main event - a birthday party at the Tropicana. | |

![]() Along with John White, they set up the "JHS '63 Registration Desk" in the lobby of the MGM Grand. |
![]() A big group of attendees included (l to r) Sandy Reimers Demay, Sandy Tison Rubert, Carol Campbell, Libby Preston Warner, Bill Forbes, Janet Eberle Forbes and Larry Finton. |
![]() Most of us stayed at the MGM Grand. It is at the south end of the strip, across the street from Tropicana, New York New York and Excalibur. Nearby are Monte Carlo and Luxor. |

![]() Each morning we met at Benninger's, a small coffee shop in the hotel. Sometimes there would be four or five tables put together. |
![]() Here is a photo of the Benninger's group Friday morning. |
![]() About two dozen of us hopped on a city bus for a trip to see the downtown sights. The other bus riders grimaced as we sang the JHS fight song. |
![]() Garry Knight, who lives in nearby Henderson, was our tour guide. |
![]() A new feature of "Glitter Gulch" is the Fremont Street Experience. It is a sound and light show on a canopy over the street that plays every hour. |
![]() While we were waiting for the next performance, Garry found a place for dinner at the Golden Nugget. They did a great job handling all of us. |
![]() Bob and Darlene Winchester (center) made some new friends while waiting for the show. |
![]() Steve Gift was in awe of the lights and sound. |
![]() Classmates came from all over the country for the party. Shown here is our San Francisco connection; Ken Mills, his partner Patrick Mulcahey, Bob Byrum ('62) and Dona Secker Byrum. |
![]() Jeanette and Gary Childs, posing as conservative schoolteachers most of the time, lived it up by renting a Prowler for the day. |

![]() A group of us traveled by foot to Venice (at the Venetian above) and Paris (another new casino). |
![]() Here we are at the Bellagio, another splendid new casino with an Italian theme. Shown are Gary Childs, Jeanette Childs, Lynn White, Bev Howard Lichty, Ron Lichty, Marcia Mericle Hogle and Jim Hogle (St. John's '61). |
![]() Our main event was a dinner and birthday party at the Tropicana. All 45 of us were together. |
![]() Mary Layhe Maneikis, earned the honor of cutting the cake because her birthday is closest to October 7. |
![]() At our 1995 adventure in Las Vegas, Janet and Bill Forbes entertained the attendees by renewing their wedding vows. |
![]() Not to be outdone by a mere renewal, Darlene and Bob Winchester were really married in a ceremony in Jackson the night before the trip. John Psychas, rear, offered a toast. |
![]() In this blurry photo (I am still learning how to use my digital camera), are Sandy Bristow Luce, Bill, Linda Stroup Trumbull, Bob Trumbull and Janet. |
![]() In another blurry photo are Gary Stiles, Bob Trumbull, Carolyn Stiles, Linda, Jerry Brinkerhuff and Loraine Griffin (friend of Jerry). |

![]() Lynn White also gets reacquainted with John Psychas, Mike Young, Bill Forbes, Larry Finton, Mike Scheid and Doug Twist, (friend of John Psychas) |
![]() After over three decades apart, Jerry Brinkerhuff and Mike Scheid find they share the same taste in sport coats. |
![]() Jerry brought some calendars that feature paintings of old-time Jackson scenes. |
![]() Judy Rieger, Sandy Rubert, Jeanette Childs, Libby Warner and Mary Maneikis renew their friendships. |
![]() Loraine Griffin and Jerry Brinkerhuff chat with DiAnne McLain Shumard. |
![]() Cameras were snapping on Saturday night. In this photo, Carol Campbell takes a shot of Larry Finton. |
![]() As we closed the banquet with the fight song and alma mater, Diana Donnelly Henning declared that she had an infallible system for roulette and collected a dollar from each of us. You can guess the rest of the story. |
![]() Finally, we topped off the evening with a strolling tour of some of the Strip's outdoor attractions, including the water fountain show at the Bellagio, the volcano at the Mirage and... |
![]() ...the Pirates' confrontation with the British at Treasure Island. |
| Here's the whole group ... | |
