The Michigan Photographic Historical Society (MiPHS) was formed in 1972. The Society encourages the collection and preservation of photographic equipment, images, photo literature, processes and techniques and the study of history of photographers and equipment, especially as related to Michigan.

Upcoming MiPHS events and other major items of interest:
Saturday, February 28 Doug Aikenhead will give a lecture titled: "The World in Your Mailbox: Real Photo Postcards from the Early 20th Century” at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the University of Michigan’s William L.
Clements Library, 909 South University Ave., Ann Arbor. The event is free and open to the public. Here's the press release.
Friday & Saturday, April 17 & 18 MiPHS is a co-sponsor of the 51st annual conference, "Michigan in Perspective: the Local History" will be held at the McGregor Conference Center on the Wayne State University campus. Saturday, April 18 MiPHS Annual Dinner & Presentation at the Birmingham Athletic Club. Our speaker will be Chris Sneberger. Here's the flyer and reservation form for the event.
December 4, 2008 - July 5, 2009

The Arab American National Museum in Dearborn will be hosting a fascinating photography exhibit entitled "The Yemeni Community: Photographs by Milton Rogovin."  In the 1970's Jewish photographer Milton Rogovin documented the Yemeni community in Lackwanna, New York. Sunday, October 25 MiPHS Annual Photographica Show and Sale. We will be at a new location this year: Royal Oaks Elks Hall, 2401 E. Fourth Street, just south of 11 Mile and west of I-75. Details and table reservation forms will be posted here later.
